The adventure of the girls of Bellaria padel Brindisi ends with applause and a pinch of regret. In the beautiful atmosphere of the Villa Mercede Padel Club of Frascati they played the play-offs for the A series.

The eight strongest teams in Italy faced each other head-on, giving life to high-tension and spectacular matches and with a large crowd that attended the 3-day event on Lazio soil.

The Brindisi team was composed of Claudia Noemi Cascella, a Pugliese transplanted to Tuscany, the Sicilians Marina Garsia and Francesca Pezzillo and the eighteen-year-old from Brindisi Flavia Coppola. Competing for the passage to the next round was the very strong team from Florence that in the end was deservedly promoted to Serie A but the series against the Brindisi team was balanced despite the final score not rewarding Bellaria.

In the first match the Brindisi couple Garsia/Coppola was defeated with the final score of 6-3, 6/4, failing to take advantage of several break points that came during the match. In the key moments of the match the very strong Spanish player from Florence Martinez asserted her 21st world position with shots of great talent that decided the outcome of the match.

In the second match, Bellaria fielded the Cascella/Pezzillo pair, who were surprised by the Tuscans in the first set, losing 6/3. In the second set, the Brindisi team reacted promptly, taking the lead 5-2 and having several set points available that they were unable to exploit. The opponents came back to 5-all and then to 6-all. The tie break was not lucky for Cascella/Pezzillo, with some decisive errors that saw the Tuscan team prevail.

In the third match with the result already established, the Pezzillo/Garsia pair, after having won the first set 6-2, suffered the comeback of their opponents (physically fresher because they had not played the two previous matches), losing the second set 6-4 and the third in a tie break.

A flattering result for the Brindisi team that played these playoffs in scorching heat and without the support of the Spanish player Canovas who was injured a couple of months ago.

There remains the satisfaction of a season full of satisfactions with a playoff sought and found by these girls who have nevertheless demonstrated that they can compete against everyone also in the next season.

The Spanish maestro of Bellaria Marc Salart is very satisfied: “We are satisfied with the results of our team. Getting into a playoff in Serie B as a freshman is not an easy task. The girls have given their all and the experience they have gained will help us in the future. Furthermore, our entire club is growing with many kids who participate in our courses and the number of members who are enrolled with us. For a project that was born recently, I think the results speak for themselves”.

“A truly emotional experience – declares General Manager Dario Recchia – the one experienced in Frascati in the presence of many truly competitive teams and top-level Italian and Spanish players. Our girls have shown that they care a lot about the jersey and that they are now a solid and close-knit group that often makes the difference in sports. Furthermore, as Bellaria we have shown that we are a club organized and structured like the best Italian clubs, working every day on every detail and taking advantage of the advice and any mistakes that are made on a growth path. I am convinced that the passion that we have combined with the desire to do well of President Giorgino can only help to achieve the company’s goals”.

“I’m really proud of how our girls played these playoffs – says Francesco Giorgino President and Sports Director of the Bellaria Sporting Club Brindisi – it’s just a shame that we lacked that pinch of nastiness and lucidity in some moments that could have changed the outcome of the entire match. On the other side we met a team that has shown that it deserves the A series. For our part we are happy with what has been done both in terms of the growth of the club opened a few months ago and the results of the field. In addition to the playoffs for access to the A series, two of our teams (one male and one female) have won their championships and next year will play the C series. A special thanks goes to all the staff, the teachers, our commendable collaborators but above all to the sponsors without whom all this would not be possible. The hope and the promise is that next year we will do even better to bring Brindisi to the Olympus of national padel”.
