Three more bins burned during the night in Pontelagoscuro. Almost two months after the last episode, the arsonists are back. Another bitter awakening in the hamlet, which follows other similar events in recent months. In fact, there have been a succession of burned bins, acts of vandalism and slashed car tires. Really too much. The last straw concerns events that occurred during the night between yesterday and Sunday. The firefighters intervened promptly to put out the flames that invaded some waste bins. These are presumably malicious acts, which caused obvious damage to at least three bins. The flames did not spread further only thanks to the prompt intervention of the firefighters. Fires were put out in two paper and plastic collection bins in via della Provvidenza, on the corner of corso del Popolo. These far from the homes, not causing further damage, while some residents during the night called 115 to request the intervention of the Firefighters. A short distance from via della Provvidenza, the paper bin on via Polesella, already targeted last May, was also burned. The image from yesterday morning is eloquent: blackened bins marked off with red and white firefighter tape, waiting to be replaced by Hera Group personnel. Residents prefer not to talk about what happened, even though most shake their heads: “We can’t stand these things anymore, it happened months ago”. “We didn’t hear anything special, it must have happened in the middle of the night. We only noticed the burnt bins in the morning, when we took the waste out” explains a resident.

In via Polesella, some people are talking to each other. “We didn’t hear anything and we only noticed in the morning, we know it had already happened – they say -. Since there was paper and cardboard, the flames flared up more easily”. What happened brings to mind similar events that occurred in the early days of last May. In that case, the firefighters had to intervene in the night between Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May, shortly after 2 am, to put out the flames that had burned some waste bins. In detail, the usual suspects had targeted those located in front of the ‘Il Quadrifoglio’ social center in viale Girolamo Savonuzzi. Another was then burned in via Polesella, near the ‘le marchigiane’ homes. Mario Tosatti
