Love for plants returns to Lucca with the 23rd edition of Murabilia: the market exhibition of quality gardening and green culture that on Friday 6, Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September brings together the best exhibitors and experts from the world of international gardening. Organized by Lucca Crea together with the Municipality of Lucca, it offers 10 themed exhibitions and displays, 14 events and workshops dedicated to children, over 30 meetings including conferences with experts and new publications, plus guided tours, live demonstrations and workshops with the protagonists of Italian and international greenery and the possibility of visiting the magnificent Botanical Garden of Lucca, which is over 200 years old.

The theme chosen this year is “Up – A look towards the sky” so Murabilia focuses on the importance of trees and arboreal species on all possible levels: from knowledge of individual species to care, to the discovery of the alarm signals they send us regarding environmental problems that are more felt today than ever. Trees and plants in general are in fact true sentinels on issues such as environmental safety and soil stability, to the point of assuming a fundamental importance also in urban areas, for the ability to mitigate increasingly extreme climatic conditions.

In this perspective of discovering the green world, international guests stand out, bringing their most recent experiences to the Murabilia public: Bleddyn and Sue Winn-Jones, true botanical explorers who for over 30 years have transformed their Crug Farm Plants into a nursery of rare species. Fresh from an exploratory trip to Columbia, they will enchant us with a reportage that combines experience, new discoveries and a love of greenery that reaches beyond the limits of the “known” world. The Crug are a presence dear to Murabilia, considered by all as “a piece of the history of plants in England, and therefore in the world, for the introduction of species bordering on the unthinkable”.

The flower chosen to represent this edition is the dahlia, one of the most beloved plants by Italians that has never seen a decline in popularity. The selection makes such a large number of varieties available on the market today that it is impossible not to find the perfect one for your garden. Stefano Magi of the Le Rose nursery in Florence will set up the rich dedicated exhibition.
