Metalliferous Hills (Grosseto). They return to the Metalliferous Hills “Nature’s Nights”, a review dedicated to biodiversity now in its fourth edition, organised by the Colline Metallifere National Park, the lead body, in collaboration with Labont – Center for Ontology (University of Turin) and the Municipalities of Scarlino, Follonica and Gavorrano.

The program of events dedicated to nature includes four meetings with special guests in other symbolic places of the Park and three night excursions on the territory guided by the director and creator of the event James Radi, naturalist, nature photographer and environmental hiking guide. For years he has been involved in naturalistic scientific dissemination, nature conservation and the creation of projects related to the protection and promotion of biodiversity.

«A territory immersed in a nature that is still largely wild, like that of the Colline Metallifere National Park – explains It works -, is the ideal stage for a review that is consecrated, in its fourth edition, as an important event for nature lovers and for all citizens because, as I never tire of repeating, “nature is culture”. Also this year a schedule of important popularizers, excellences of Italian scientific and naturalistic culture and not only and three night outings to discover the treasures of our biodiversity».

«The review “Nights of nature” – he adds Fabiola Favillipresident of the Colline Metallifere National Park – confirms itself as a precious opportunity to know and appreciate a unique territory, characterized by intact natural environments because they are scarcely anthropized, marked by a long mining history that has made its features unmistakable and yet has not affected its ecosystems. Conferences and excursions will be the “passport” for an exceptional journey into the nature of the Colline Metallifere».

The program

The review beginson Friday 12th July at the Rocca Pisana in Scarlino cwith the meeting with the biologist, photojournalist and science communicator Francesco Tomasinelli. The title of the evening is “Wild Italy” and some of the most fascinating naturalistic experiences of our country will be presented.

We continue Friday, July 19th in the splendid setting of industrial archaeology of the Ravi Marchi mine in Gavorrano for the meeting with Nicolò Oppicelli, mycologist and journalist, who will talk to the public about the fascinating world of mushrooms, their vital role in coevolution, their presence in history and future prospects.

Saturday 27th July we return to the Rocca Pisana in Scarlino for an event with Serena Giacomin, atmospheric physicist, climatologist and meteorologist. The evening’s title is “We need more science to fight the climate crisis”. Too often, climate change is associated with the concept of the future, when in fact the effects on the environment, society and the economy are already evident today. The data demonstrate this and describe how the planetary balance is at risk, so it is necessary to act immediately.
