MASSA – The structural failure of the roof forced the authorities to evacuate 22 families from one of the Case Lamaro buildings on Viale Roma.

The 22 families evacuated by the Massa Fire Department remain outside their homes. It all began around 3:00 PM last Saturday when, alerted by a resident, the condominium administrator, Antonio Cofrancesco, went to the home to check the situation.

A serious inconvenience for condominium owners who found themselves literally on the street. Some, the luckiest, were welcomed by their family members while others had to provide accommodation in a hotel or B&B in the area at their own expense, since the structure is private.

After a second inspection carried out in the last hours, the Fire Brigade returned to the Case Lamaro to accompany the evacuated families to the apartments in order to recover basic necessities. In the meantime, the twin building was checked for fear that it had similar problems. Well-founded fears but to which a quicker response was possible. In fact, a company in charge, following the Fire Brigade’s directives, proceeded to shore up the ceiling, making the beams safe. By doing so, at least the residents of the other two buildings did not have to leave their apartments.

While, as regards the first two, the safety works will start tomorrow morning and should be completed within 48 hours.
