Yellow in Cascia. The details of the episode that led to the serious injury of a 48-year-old bricklayer are still to be clarified. Since Saturday evening, he has been hospitalized with a reserved prognosis at the hospital in Terni, but fortunately his life is not in danger.
The worker, this emerged on Monday morning, would be employed by a subcontractor company on the construction site underway in the municipal building, where seismic improvement interventions must be carried out due to the damage that the building suffered following the earthquake. Here it is not clear what happened and the caution of the investigators is maximum, but the prevailing hypothesis would be that of an accident at work, so much so that the Local Health Authority inspectors proceeded to seize the construction site. The investigations, however, are continuing at this time.
The 48-year-old, in fact, was not rescued inside the construction site of the municipality of Cascia, but was transported to the emergency room in Spoleto by his employer and a colleague; from here he was then transferred to Terni due to the severity of his injuries. At first, the version emerged according to which the bricklayer had been injured at home, which however immediately appeared unlikely, so much so that inspections immediately began inside the one million euro post-earthquake construction site in the municipality of Cascia.
A series of investigations were carried out here, but it has not yet been possible to understand how the 48-year-old suffered injuries in various parts of his body considered compatible with a fall from a height. Inside the municipal building, where work started at the beginning of the year and is expected to be returned to the Municipality at the end of 2024, there would in fact be no scaffolding or similar, as confirmed by investigative sources.
The dynamics of the events that led to the injury of the bricklayer remains a mystery for now. The Spoleto Prosecutor’s Office is awaiting the consequent information from both the Local Health Authority and the Carabinieri of Norcia for the consequent measures.
