The summer transfer campaign continues at full speedAssigeco Piacenza: after the confirmations of Querci, Serpilli, D’Almeida and Bonacini, the company is proud to announce today the signing of the 2000-born athlete Saverio Bartolithe first new face for the 2024/2025 season and fresh from a season spent between Cividale and Verona. A 194cm, 89kg point guard and native of Spoleto, Saverio took his first steps with the orange ball in his hometown, before continuing his growth path between the youth sector of Stella Azzurra Roma and that of Mens Sana Siena. Since 2018/2019 he has played in Serie B wearing the jerseys of San Vendemiano, Lucca and above all Cecina, where he averaged 13.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists. His excellent performances earned him a call to Serie A2 in Chieti, where he remained for two years before spending his last sporting season between Cividale and Verona, sharing the locker room with his younger brother Vittorio.
Now the call from Assigeco is ready to give him a leading role, and the Umbrian player declares himself enthusiastic about joining the red and white roster: “I am very happy to have signed for Assigeco Piacenza, a club that has always stood out for having had excellent championships in Serie A2, valorising many players. From the first conversations I felt a lot of trust from coach Salieri and sports director Alessandro Pagani, and I was very intrigued by the idea of being part of this team. Also speaking with Michele Serpilli, my teammate in Chieti, I had confirmation that it is a club where we work really well, so I didn’t think about it too much and I was immediately enthusiastic about accepting the proposal. I really like the game idea that was presented to me: I believe we can have an excellent championship.”
During the playoff quarter-finals Saverio was the protagonist of a sensational basket from beyond the arc at the last second which gave the victory to Verona on the external court of Urania Milano. Coach Stefano Salieri he is ready to rely on his skills: “We have been following Saverio for some time due to his characteristics and qualities. He is a player who physically has an important presence, has enormous desire and motivation to grow a lot. I felt he was very motivated, aware and ready to work to improve and have full responsibility for managing the team. A lot of our season will depend on his growth and I have full confidence in this. I am very happy and motivated to coach him.”
In his CV Saverio also boasts various experiences with the blue tank top: in the summer of 2022 he received the call from the National Experimental Team, participating in the Global Jam Tournament in Toronto, while last off-season he was called up by coach Edoardo Casalone with the National Green Team Team, taking part in two friendly matches against Spain. The red and white sports director Alessandro Pagani is pleased with his signing: “Saverio is a player we have been following for some time, especially two seasons ago when he was Serpilli’s teammate in Chieti and this year in his two stints first in Cividale, where perhaps he found little space, and in the second in Verona where he also played some excellent playoffs. I am very happy that he has decided to undertake this new path in Assigeco, he is an intelligent, diligent and still young boy, therefore with still a lot of room for improvement, and he fully reflects the philosophy of the company. We expect an important season from him, he will have a central role in this team and we are convinced that we have made the right choice.
