The Civil Protection announces that a disturbance, arriving from central Europe, will lead, from the early hours of tomorrow, to a further worsening of weather conditions in most of the peninsular regions, with precipitation, mainly thunderstorms, in particular in the inland and Adriatic areas of the central-south. Furthermore, a reinforcement of ventilation is expected from the north-western quadrants, with greater effects on Sardinia, Sicily and the extreme southern regions, associated with a general drop in temperatures.

Based on available forecasts, the Civil Protection Department, in agreement with the regions involved, which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the affected territories, has issued a new warning for adverse weather conditions. The warning predicts strong to stormy north-westerly winds from the early hours of tomorrow on Sicily, extending to Calabria, in particular the areas of the Strait of Sicily and the Ionian sectors, with storm surges along the exposed coasts. Scattered precipitation is also expected from the early hours of tomorrow, mainly in the form of showers or thunderstorms, on Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia, extending to Campania and Basilicata. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. On the basis of the predicted and ongoing phenomena, a yellow alert has been assessed for tomorrow in Veneto, in part of Tuscany and Umbria, in the entire territory of AbruzzoMolise, Campania, Puglia, Basificata and part of Calabria.

The weather and criticality framework expected in Italy is updated daily based on new forecasts and the evolution of phenomena, and is available on the website of the Department of Civil Protection, together with the general rules of conduct to be followed in case of bad weather. “The information on regional alert levels, on specific criticalities that could affect individual territories and on the prevention actions adopted – the Civil Protection informs – are managed by the territorial civil protection structures, in contact with which the Department will follow the evolution of the situation”.
