CARRARA – The Propeller Club Port of La Spezia and Marina di Carrara’s choice of the magnificent and evocative location of Cava Lazzareschi, in the heart of the Apuan Alps, reachable from Colonnata, for the social meeting was profoundly symbolic.

A choice aimed at strengthening the already intense bonds of friendship and sharing, not only operational, between the two communities, La Spezia and Marina di Carrara, united in the same Eastern Ligurian Sea System.

Cava Lazzareschi is an open-air quarry located over 800 metres above sea level, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Port of Marina di Carrara and the Apuan coast, and to discuss an apparently unusual evening theme for entrepreneurs and professionals in the port and logistics economy: “The Sea seen from a special observatory: the Roman Quarry of Fossacava”.

Over eighty guests attended the evening organized by Councilor Propeller Andrea Garland it’s yes Fabiola Lazzareschithe owner of the house, a descendant of quarrymen, who has been involved in the family business in Carrara since 2006 and in which she has developed, in parallel with the quarry work, experiential sculpture courses whose main feature is the use of centuries-old processing waste to enhance the marble and promote the area, not only in the tourist sector but also in the social sector by offering free, appropriate and inclusive courses for children.

They spoke during the meeting, introduced by the President of Propeller Gian Luca Agostinellithe Admiral Roberto Camerini and the Fleet Admiral Dario Giacominiwho since June 2022 has been the representative of the Italian Military Forces in NATO and the European Union, entertaining the audience on current geopolitical issues.

The sculptor and professor of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts also spoke about the precious characteristics of marble, Luciano Massari.

The evening concluded with the appointment at the Convivial at the end of July for the closing of the financial year during which – as President Agostinelli anticipated – the award dedicated to the unforgettable Past President Giorgio Bucchioni will be assigned.
