This past weekend was one of intense activity on the part of the Coast Guard Of Messina. The good weather filled the sea and the beaches and the Operations Room was called to coordinate various interventions to safeguard human life at sea.
Friday June 27th around 1.30pm the fast drive A82 intervened in the search and rescue activity of a surfer in presumed difficulty while abeaming the cape Ladder. After having ascertained that there were no particular needs in this regard, the commander of the unit resumed navigation to control the territory. Also on Friday afternoon the Patrol Boat CP 801 Of Reggio Calabria intervened to assist a sailing boat in difficulty, Polish flag, with two people on board, near the port of Reggio, due to a rope caught in the propeller that limited its maneuver. The vessel was helped to enter the port of Reggio Calabria.
On Saturday 29th the Operating Room Of Messina coordinated the intervention of Patrol Boat CP 801 Of Reggio Calabria in aid of the 15 m sailing boat “Shery”. with three people on board sailing abeam the port of Reggio Calabria suffered an engine failure. The vessel was escorted to the port of Reggio for repairs.
During the night between Saturday and Sunday the CP 2088 patrol boat Of Messina was involved in a search and rescue operation in the sea area facing the town of Peace of Messina for a supposedly troubled unit that had fired a red rocket. The searches yielded negative results.
Please remember to always behave respectfully of the sea, inform yourself about its conditions and weather forecasts before setting sail as well as about the complete efficiency of your physical condition in relation to the navigation you wish to undertake. Finally, please remember that expired red rockets must be disposed of in the correct manner: they must be returned by the user to the authorized distributor.
