Lots of fun at the City of Trieste Meeting, over 600 participants from all over Italy

Two days of inclusive sport, high-level activities and above all lots of fun for over 600 participants, coming from every corner of Italy. The Saturday and Sunday events, organized by Asd Trieste Atletica Aps, included, first the 23rd City of Trieste Meeting at Campo Draghicchio in Cologna and the following day the Nordic Walking Experience, one of the most important events on the national calendar of the specialty. Let’s start with the athletes with poles: this year the Nordic Walking Experience, with over 300 participants, took place in the unusual setting of the Montebello Hippodrome, in Trieste. Spotlight on the Italian Individual Senior Distance Championships (5000m). In the women’s category Tizian Tidone (Run 4 People, 34:11) preceded by a few cents the tough Paola Vicenzi (Scuola Italiana Nordic, 34:11) and the, born in 1994, Sara Zennaro (Asd Nordicwalkingitaly, 34:56) while on the feet The “landlady” Danila Medizza took her seat on the podium (Trieste Atletica, 35:07). Among the men came the success of the Venetian Luigi Sesso (Runners Team Zanè, 32:14), good at resisting the return attempt of Cristian Giannattasio (Scuola Italiana Nordic Walking, 32:18), who in turn preceded Fulvio Bussolari (Gs Alpini Vicenza), took bronze in 32:43. After this hour and a half of intense challenges, the scene was taken by two events which demonstrate how, even in Nordic Walking, the company chaired by Pompeo Tria cultivates a 360° vision of the sport: on the sand and lawns of the Hippodrome in fact, the youth promotional trials of Nordic Walking (Nordic Sprint 2000m) were held, followed by the Inclusive Music Nordic, which is a recreational motor activity aimed at girls and boys with disabilities in 1st and 2nd grade schools. Closing the intense morning was the 5th Stage of the National Nordic Walking STYLE Circuit, another sector of Nordic Walking in which speed does not count, but rigor and technical skills, under the watchful eyes of the judges. There were four categories in the competition: among the Instructors, Massimo Nadalini (ASD Venaria Reale Nordic Walking, 128 points) prevailed while, among the Instructors, Monica Folin (ASD Nordicwalkingitaly, 133 points) came out on top. Finally, if among the Walkers Cristina Carmilla (ASD Walkers Without Borders, 135 points) had no particular difficulty in making the big target her own, among the Walkers a thrilling final rewarded Paolo Basso (Asd Albaredo Sile Walking, 132 points) who preceded by a few tenths of a point Stefano Tavelli (Asd Nordicwalkingitaly). Below are the most important results, from a technical point of view, of the Senior categories: in the women’s 800m Giada Stanissa (Cus Trieste, 2:17.34) stood out, prevailing over Veronica Pozzi from Friuli (2:19.62). The challenge was good in the 200m under 23 in which Andrea Polo from Vicenza (21.77) prevailed over Marco Stepancich (Promo Run Trieste, 21.88). As usual, the men’s 800m provided a great spectacle in which the home team’s representative Tinej Sterni (1:52.79) rejoiced, doing well to keep a combative Giovanni Silli (1:53.59) at a safe distance, the man from Trieste competing in the Athletics Malignani Udine. Worth noting, also because it was run in almost complete solitude, was the 8:24.22 achieved in the 3000m by Federico Fragiacomo (Trieste Atletica).
