PERUGIA – A plan to change the face of Pieve di Campo, which develops in the upper part of Ponte San Giovanni, takes shape from the dreams of the youngest residents, the children who attend the La Fonte primary school (Ic Perugia 12). The children were the authors of drawings and more, enclosed in an album, designed to make greenery more welcoming and usable. Proposals collected by the Sociocultural Club chaired by Vittorio Belli, who on Thursday evening spoke about the redevelopment of the green areas and the playground in via Stoppani in a public meeting. For the club, which is being relaunched through initiatives and has 240 members, it is an opportunity to “recreate the social fabric of Pieve di Campo”, including all age groups.
The protagonists in social life are certainly the primary school children, who have drawn their dreams for the spaces where they can grow. Starting from the play area: «It needs new interesting and fun games. It must be beautiful for both children and adults” This is what they wrote alongside some proposals: swing for everyone, bench for mothers, baskets, swing and even a puppet theater. The children would also like a basketball court where they can play. Also because «in Ponte there aren’t many free fields». For part of the former bowling green area, they dream of a tennis court instead. And for the area in front of the club they would like “a gazebo and a bookcase” because “it’s important to be outdoors”. The authors of the project also thought of a staircase with the words “welcome” written in many languages. That is a crossing point with parking, where they recommend parking for disabled people and expectant mothers. The club is ready to take up the challenge: “We will certainly do some of the projects.” To close the circle, however, we will need the help of institutions and activities in the area. The municipal councilor Edi Cicchi (Social) participated in the assembly, together with many residents.
