PADUA – The general council of the City of Hope foundation onlus, during which the 2023 budget, the 2023 sustainability budget and the appointment of the new directors were presented. The budget, approved and signed, expresses a healthy state of the total assets and liabilities equal to 40.422 million euros. And in the meantime we look at the second Research Tower.
THE OBJECTIVES
«We believe in the importance of being transparent about everything we do – says founder Franco Masello -. We pay the utmost attention to allocating resources to institutional purposes, avoiding waste and reducing administrative costs. We are thus able to donate up to 97% of the funds raised towards diagnosis, research and hospital assistance activities. In July we will present the economic project of the second Tower which will cost 20 million euros.” «Thanks to the volunteers, the gift becomes a gift: with their commitment we can count on large and small donations – adds Giovanni Paolino, president of the Foundation – but we must be able to invest in the continuity of the gift to support our research».
THE ANALYSIS
The budget of the Irp (Pediatric Research Institute) shows an operating surplus of 4,305 euros. «The data shows how the Irp budget is balanced and brings the Institute’s free assets to a total of 183,422 euros (in 2023 it was 179 thousand) – explains Stefano Lupi, Irp CEO -. The budget structure adopted shows the data relating to 2023 and, for comparative purposes, the values generated in the previous year. Since they refer to the same time period, the information relating to the two financial years is homogeneous. In particular, the area of general interest activities highlights how 91.24% of the overall revenues and proceeds achieved were used, in the pursuit of exclusive social solidarity purposes, in scientific research activities”.
The new directors are Dario Meneguzzo, Simone Coccato and Carlo Sabbatini. And the new auditors Antonio Baio and Riccardo Oliva Medin.
THE NEWS
They then expand projects for young patients hospitalized in the Uoc (Complex operating unit) Pediatric oncohaematology. Fondazione Città della Speranza together with the Hospital-University Company and the Istituto Zooprophylattico delle Venezie, with funding from the Region of 36 thousand euros, are launching a humanization initiative through pet therapy, with two specially trained dogs that will provide relief to the little ones. «Our patients undergo treatments where they are exposed to many risks that impose a lifestyle that no child would want to have – underlines Alessandra Biffi, director of Pediatric Oncohematology –. In all of this we all believe that it is increasingly important to work on the humanization of care, also helping families, giving a more peaceful daily life. The pet therapy, which will arrive after the summer, will be aimed at patients in the yellow area free from multi-resistant germs on Friday afternoon”.
