The majority supports Santilli – L’Aquila

CELANO. The majority councilors renew their confidence in the mayor Septimius Santilli and confirm their commitment to carrying out works and projects for Celano. The controversy does not stop after the 26 indictments in the “Fresh Water” investigation.
To the concern of the Democratic Party and the reply of the mayor – sent to trial together with the former parliamentarian Philip Piccone, entrepreneurs and municipal administrators – was followed by the united position of the majority councillors. «The majority of the Municipality of Celano has never shirked the fulfillment of its institutional and administrative duties», the representatives specified, «it has resisted a far more serious media and judicial storm in 2021. With commitment, dedication and sense of duty has carried the administrative machine forward, never giving in to external pressure, nor has it ever acted as the bearer and custodian of procedural truths and realities that must be addressed only in the appropriate places. It is our duty to complete the mandate and implement the projects which have been forcibly blocked for reasons not attributable to this administration.” According to the representatives of the majority, «the most striking fact to date is that the Municipality is facing expenses which fall on all citizens, both for the fees of the lawyers and of the accused, for whom the charges have been dropped, and for the works left on hold. Needless to say, these resources could be used for many other purposes. We will continue to support Santilli unitedly, unlike a minority that has already split just two months after taking office.”
