ROVIGO – Numbers usually don’t lie, and they deserve the utmost attention a phenomenon that personally involves families. In the province of Rovigo there are 6 bodies (including two women) found that do not have an identity, again in Polesine, in two cases human remains were found whose sex was not able to be established. In Veneto the number is even more shocking, 44 men and 12 lifeless women have never been identified.

By analyzing the overall data of the Province of Rovigo there were 60 reports of disappearance, 47 were found, of which 43 were alive, 4 people died13 are still to be found (in Veneto the number rises exponentially to 305).

In Veneto there were 621 reports of disappearances in the 0-17 age group (57.8%), 388 aged between 18-65 (36.1%), 66 for those over 65 (6.1%).

“International Missing Children’s Day” is celebrated on May 25, established in memory of Etan Patz, a 6-year-old boy who disappeared in New York on May 25, 1979.

From that tragic event, a global movement for missing persons was born, which led to the development of new methods in the search and prevention of these dramatic cases and to facilitate searches, such as the photos on milk cartons, in the mid-1980s .

The Rovigo Police Headquarters promoted the distribution of information leaflets to young students in the capital, in front of the school buildings and in the city center in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II.

The initiative, coordinated by the Anti-Crime Division, took place in collaboration with the “Penelope” association who participated with their representatives to allow further insights into the support and assistance for those who have lost a loved one.

The State Police is constantly committed to preventing and dealing with this phenomenon. In these circumstances, timeliness is essential to try to be more successful in the search for the missing.

Together with the Amber Alert Europe Foundation, active on the issues of missing and at-risk children this year the State Police created the “Control. Reflect. Report… and don’t waste time, call the emergency number 112″ to spread useful advice for parents dealing with the disappearance of a child. In such delicate moments, knowing what steps to take can make the difference.

Furthermore, with the YouPol App it allows you to get in touch with the operations rooms of the State Police Headquarters and can also be activated on smartphones; allows a direct request for assistance for episodes of gender violence, bullying and drug dealing. However, we would like to remind you that the App does not in any way replace the emergency numbers (1 1 2 NUE and 113) in the event of imminent danger.

Through the Italian website for missing children, managed by the Central Anti-Crime Service of the State Police, which is part of an international network of 31 countries, coordinated by the US Icmec – International Center for Missing and Exploited Children, every citizen can report useful information, also on minors whose traces have been lost for some time, so it is possible to insert age progression images of the disappeared.

Please note that to deal with these emergencies, the single European number 116000 is also active – telephone line for missing minors, entrusted to manage by the Ministry of the Interior to “SOS Il Telefono Azzurro – National Line for the Prevention of Child Abuse”. Childhood”.
