Massa Marittima: Green ears, City of Wine and Wine Roads, City of Oil, Slow Food Monteregio di Massa Marittima. There are many excellences of Massa Marittima which originate from countryside and from open territory. This is one of the reasons why the “Alternative for Massa” list has decided to focus on the hamlets but also on the countryside, the so-called “scattered farms”, for which citizens and companies will have all the attention.

«The current situation is critical – explains the candidate Sandro Poli -, in fact, these subjects are today among the largest tax payers and pay a significant IMU revenue for the municipal coffers, furthermore the many agritourism businesses have an important role as tax substitute for the tourist tax which mainly comes from the their activities.

The Municipality reciprocates this huge financial income by watching the problems without trying to solve them. Meanwhile, there is no Fraction council for the localities of Cura Nuova, Vivoli, Marsiliana, Montebamboli and Cicalino, therefore no type of involvement for these citizens. Furthermore, in Cura Nuova with the new ground signs of SR 439, continuous line, the inhabitants were effectively blocked at home, in the most total silence/absinthe of the municipality. In Vivoli they waited years before getting the bridge back, in Montebamboli, Marsiliana and Cicalino even the frontists have to pay for the road, which serves as an inter-municipal connection, Massa Marittima Suvereto. In Capanne and La Pesta, adjacent to Lake Accesa awarded the Blue Flag, there is an absence of telephone signal and therefore difficulty in calling for help, as well as penalizing activities. In Prata and Tatti, they are the historic centers forgotten by previous administrations, while in Niccioleta, the photovoltaic energy project presented by Sandro Poli in 2009 was lost, which would have brought important benefits to the community, thanks to his interest, his skills and to his work experiences with the companies Eni and Syndial.

In general, returning to the specific topic of farmers, we can say that they are penalized for their distance from services, they are abandoned to their own devices and are often prey to speculators in search of agricultural land.

What can be done? Battles must be waged to review the TARI regulation, as a tariff per resident inhabitant and no longer per square meter and to try to renegotiate the ATO contract, from which the tariffs to be paid originate, a contract which is highly penalizing for citizens. Then we need to clarify the use of the tourist tax which must be redistributed specifically in favor of agricultural-agritourism activities and in general to improve services for the countryside areas and hamlets. It is necessary to create a municipal office/desk dedicated to small agricultural businesses, to facilitate their access to tenders and contributions, a desk that naturally does not want to replace the trade associations that already operate well, but which must serve to give practical help to those is having difficulty orienting himself or using the tools available correctly. We must then review the statute and regulation of the local roads and pass the Suvereto Massa Marittima local road as an extra-urban municipal one, given that today it is widely used by the whole community and not just by cross-border commuters. Furthermore, it is essential to adapt all the rural roads to respond to the current needs of farmers and agritourism facilities.

Finally, it would be important and useful to create a District Council dedicated to the open territory and including all the localities of the municipality and to review the contracts with the telephone companies to provide a reception service even in places where there is no signal today, with important limitations for the needs of quality tourism.

These issues will be a priority for the future Councilor for Agriculture.”
