Assets worth 15 million euros seized from “socially dangerous” entrepreneur

The Financial Police seized assets worth 15 million euros from an entrepreneur considered “socially dangerous”, formally resident in the Principality of Monaco, but in fact domiciled in the province of Pavia.

“Socially dangerous” entrepreneur

The soldiers of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Bologna have executed a confiscation decree issued by the Court of Milan, Autonomous Prevention Measures Section, against a 70-year-old entrepreneur, characterized by “economic-financial danger”, formally resident in the Principality of Monaco but domiciled in the Pavia areawith entrepreneurial interests in the province of Bologna.

The provision, which became definitive after the rejection of the appeal in the Court of Cassation, concludes a long legal case that began in 2014 under the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Bologna. The entrepreneur was sentenced in first instance to 6 years in prison for fraudulent bankruptcy and failure to declare.

The “criminal curriculum”

The investigations by the Fiamme Gialle and the Bolognese Prosecutor’s Office have highlighted a “criminal curriculum” characterized by dfinancial elites and systematic tax evasiongoing so far as to accumulate a huge debt to the Treasury which allowed him to build a huge assets and leading a very wealthy lifestylein clear contrast with the paltry income profile (approximately 180 thousand euros in total from 1979 to todaythe).

Due to the de facto domicile in the Pavia area, the investigations of the Economic-Financial Police Unit of Bologna then continued, in the present investigative context, under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Pavia (in the person of the Deputy Prosecutor, Dr. Andrea Zanoncelli).

Seizures for 15 million euros

A provision was therefore issued which ordered the definitive seizure in favor of the State of huge assets, having a total value of 15 million euros, and specifically:

  • Seven luxury cars, including Range Rover, Bentley, Audi and Mercedes-Benz;
  • Movable goods, included collectible watches and pens, for over 350 thousand euros;
  • Liquid or bank financial resources of approximately 724 thousand euros;
  • Nine propertiesamong which three villas in the Pavia area and a “Californian” style villa in France, overlooking the sea, worth approximately 7 million euros.

During the investigations delegated by the Pavia Judicial Authority, it emerged among other things that this latter real estate complex (together with two valuable cars) had been fictitiously attributed to third parties by the 70-year-oldin order to evade the legal provisions regarding prevention measures. For this reason, the interested party was first subjected to a personal precautionary measure and then sentenced by the competent Court, with an abbreviated procedure, to a prison sentence of one year and 6 months.
