The STEM Project in the Library concluded. Cuneo: “Proud to involve the kids”

On the morning of May 23rd, the mayor of Fara in Sabina, Roberta Cuneo, greeted with great satisfaction the IA students from the lower secondary school who participated in the STEM Project. During the school year, the children met periodically at the Abate Alano municipal library to learn more about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This project, which saw the active participation of students and teachers in various educational and stimulating activities, was a great success.

Heartfelt thanks go to all the participants, teachers and library staff for their commitment and dedication. The initiative also received very positive feedback from the kids who also had the opportunity to try their hand at numerous experiments during the project. Mayor Cuneo said: “We are proud to see our young people so involved and interested in STEM disciplines. It is essential to introduce children to these subjects from the early years of school, to stimulate their curiosity and prepare them for the future.”

Gessica Cuscuna’, manager of the Abate Alano Municipal Library added: “The STEM project in the library ends for this year and we can make a positive assessment. During this process, three important aspects have emerged that I would like to underline: on the one hand, the fact that the library is increasingly becoming a meeting place and an open place where we can discuss. On the other hand, thanks to this experience, there was the possibility of focusing on one of the objectives of the 2030 Agenda, which is to give more and more value to girls and to bring them closer to those sciences that are culturally considered exclusive prerogative of boys.

Finally, the third point is the positive network that is being created between the different entities of our municipality, such as the school and the library, which collaborate together with a common objective: to create unconventional but certainly very stimulating study spaces.” Given the excellent success of the project, together with the collaborators of the Library and the schools, we are considering extending it next year to other classes and institutes in the area. We thank again all those who contributed to the success of this initiative.
