discovering the area with open cellars –

The best-known event of the Wine Tourism Movement returns on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May. Open Cellars 2024 will also see Calabria as the protagonist with thirteen producers who from north to south of the region will open their doors to wine lovers, enthusiasts, curious people who want to get to know the winemaking experiences from Pollino to Aspromonte up close and also offer the excuse to go on discovery of the territory where wine is produced and creates connections with culture, gastronomy, the intangible and traditional wealth of the communities.

The 32nd edition of the cult event of the Wine Tourism Movement combines good wine, knowledge and meetings with the producers who make the success of Calabrian wine important, but also the experiences in the cellar and in the vineyard in a multifaceted story of one of the historic lands of Italian wine.

At a time when even wine tourism has now been regulated by the new laws of the State and represents a segment in strong expansion and growth – both with volumes of Italian enthusiasts who choose to start from wine to get to know a production area, and above all for the foreign interest that wine-growing Calabria arouses – the president of MTV Calabria, Dorina Bianchi, says she is «enthusiastic about being able to face this new edition of Cantine Aperte with the awareness that we are on the right path to be able to make wine tourism one of the strength of experiential travel in Calabria. Calabrian wineries are increasingly equipping themselves better and better in order to be welcoming and engaging with proposals that are increasingly open to multiculturalism and authenticity.”

The Calabria of wine will be discovered through the participation of Cantine Viola and Feudo dei Sanseverino in Saracena, Tenuta Celimarro in Castrovillari and Acroneo in Acri for the province of Cosenza. In Crotone and its province it will be possible to visit Cantine Malena in Cirà Marina and La Pizzuta del Principe and Russo & Longo in Strongoli. Then again in Catanzaro doors opened by Cantine Stetti di Lamezia and Dell’Aera Vigneti & Cantina in Soveria Simeri, while Marchisa in Drapia will be the destination for those who move within the borders of the province of Vibo Valentia. To complete the Calabrian wine journey you can choose Barone Macrì in Gerace, Murace wines in Bivongi and Casa Ponziana in Riace.

From the mountains to the sea, passing through the national parks, Cantine Aperte in Calabria offers the opportunity to live unique wine experiences including tastings, walks between the rows and the stories of those who make wine production an art and a lifestyle.
