Flower Market, Tonegutti (Sanremo in the Centre): «National reference to be supported with infrastructure investments»

Sanremo. “The Flower Market of Sanremo is a national reference for the sector of marketing of cut flowers and ornamental greenery. The market trend has shown continuous growth in recent years. In 2022, the turnover from the auction and storage was over 11.3 million euros, with approximately 21.5 million stems marketed of 273 different varieties. To understand the proportions of this growth and its impact on the territory in the decade of Biancheri’s administration, it is enough to remember that the turnover went from 3.4 million in 2013 to 11.3 in 2023: +232% turnover in ten years” , he declares Sara Tonegutticandidate for municipal councilor in Sanremo at the Center for Alessandro Mager Mayorwho in recent years as Councilor has worked on floriculture and the development of the Flower Market alongside Amaie Energia.

«Exports to the main markets such as Holland, Germany, France, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Austria, Eastern European countries and the USA have always been supported also by territorial marketing activities with events of international importance which have among flowers co-protagonize, such as the Sanremo Festival, the ceremony and dinner for the awarding of the Nobel Prizes and the flower floats, and by a continuous concerted action at the floriculture table, in which the trade associations of the sector take part: Cia , Coldiretti, Confagricolori, Ancef, the two research institutes Crea and Irf and the Liguria horticultural district, a moment of discussion on the sector which also gave rise to the Fiormenti event, orientation for young people on the world of floriculture.

This virtuous path must be strongly supported by dedicated infrastructure investments.

Here we come to a decisive step desired by the Biancheri administration: the concession of the Mercato dei Fori to Amaie Energia for 33 years. The agreement in fact provides for advance fees for 2024 and 2026 (437,500 euros), a part of regional co-financing (400 thousand), another part of fees already deducted for works carried out (1,073,923), finally 177,455.53 euros per year of rent plus VAT for a total of 32 years. The bill is for over 5.6 million to cover the financing necessary to create a new dedicated area with modern equipment and more functional spaces dedicated to the floriculture sector. Add to this the ongoing investments (500 thousand euros for the renovation of the roof) and 3.2 million obtained from the PNRR (for cold rooms, power plants, warehouse hubs).

Among many promises that we hear made in this period – concludes Sara Tonegutti – these are concrete investments and financing already obtained, the result of years of hard work. I am running for Sanremo al Centro, alongside Alessandro Mager, to carry forward these investment plans and grow a fundamental sector.”
