Palazzo Perticari in Pesaro reopens. The treasure chest as you have never seen it: a journey into beauty

Pesaro, 24 May 2024 – “I am not here to guard the ashes, but I’m here to continue to keep the flame burning.” Gorgeous. Famous phrases are the best when there is a need to express a judgment on a situation which by its nature and dimension is worth considering carefully. Why look for originality when others have already said it better than you? Franco Signoretti he didn’t say that phrase, but he behaves as if those words were the underlying theme of his activity: I’m not here to watch over the historical remains of the Perticari family, but to try to innovate those events, safeguarding, exalting and carrying forward their best aspects, but also to link it to another tranche of history that I intend to bring to life with the renovated building on Corso XI Settembre at its centre. Which becomes Palazzo Perticari Signoretti, because the past cannot be erased, but the future must also be born, step by step, and it too must become history. “There are plenty of buildings around with double names”, says Signoretti, perhaps meaning that these are not dynastic issues but two different stories that go hand in hand.

And in fact, for those who have had the opportunity to make comparisons, Signoretti no longer moves through the beautiful rooms of the palace looking a little disoriented and uncertain that he had at the beginning, as if he were a guest of those rooms reborn to their beauty; now he moves lightly and casually, speaking with authentic confidence about his picture galleryfrom the Neapolitan school to the Bolognese or Pesaro school, or its countless art volumes: Franco Signoretti is perfectly at home among the frescoes and vaults of the former Perticari palace which became Perticari Signoretti, appears and disappears among the row of rooms because that is now his “mansion”, so much so that, considering the biographies of the Perticari family, one almost wonders what other biographers will write in a hundred years’ time.

At the start I had different ideas about the publishing businessnow I think we’ll do something else…”. As if to say, in the best sense, that if you look too much into the abyss, at a certain point the abyss looks at you and makes you think of other projects. The impression is that this Signoretti will have some surprises in store for us in the not too distant future: when he began the adventure of saving and restoring Palazzo Perticari, he strongly wanted something inside himself, now, as time passes and reality becomes true, yes he gradually realizes what he really wants. You open a window, with shutters of course and not the hideous shutters, and the image of a row of roofs with the dome of Sant’Ubaldo Bello in the background, it almost seems like it, hits you outside of those rooms there may be a Capital of Culture, perhaps it’s just an impression.
