Rho. Anniversary of the Capaci massacre: school children remember the martyrs of legality
(mi-lorenteggio.com) Rho, 23 May 2024 Songs written by well-known authors, songs composed by themselves; biographies reconstructed with care and testimonies. The children of Rho thus paid homage, with the fruit of the work carried out in their classes, to the victims of the mafia on the national day dedicated to them, which coincides with the anniversary of the Capaci massacre, which took place on 23 May 1992: that day in terrible explosion along the highway between Punta Raisi airport and Palermo killed the judge Giovanni Falconethe wife Francesca Morvillothe escort agents Rocco Dicillo, Antonio Montinaro, Vito SchifaniAt the Auditorium in via Meda, where the initiative took place since the bad weather forced them to give up gathering at the Parco della Legalità, primary and secondary students of the San Carlo school, of the lower secondary schools of the Manzoni and Tommaso Grossi schools, in the presence of representatives of all the city police forces and municipal administrators. The teacher Paola Genellini, of the San Carlo school, recalled the events that occurred in Capaci, remembering Francesca Morvillo and the “eternal love” that binds her forever to her husband Giovanni Falcone. You wanted to underline a sentence from the magistrate: “Anyone who is able to express something must express it as best as possible”. An exhortation addressed to students. Three second graders then proposed the song Giorgio FalettiMr. LieutenantThe teacher’s contribution is always an expression of the San Carlo school Sara Codari with classes 5A and 5B: the group wanted to tell the story of the father’s life Pino Puglisi and his desire to “always give yourself to others”.The lower secondary school Tommaso Grossi brought the 3B and the teacher to the stage By Rocco: the students expressed the desire to dedicate two trees in the Park of Legality in memory of Giuseppe Tallarita and the very young Michele Fazioinnocent victims of the mafia. What the teacher proposed is touching Magnoni with the second classes of San Carlo: remembering the Rosario Livatinoto whom an exhibition was dedicated in March at Villa Burba, one of the boys, with his back turned and with a hood over his head, gave voice to Piero Navathe witness to the crime of the “boy judge”, who has since been forced to live “like a ghost”, but certain of having accomplished “the right choice, because once you decide which side you’re on, you can’t go back.”Livatino was also commemorated by other students of San Carlo who, with the teacher Alice Pistocchi they illustrated their research on the magistrate, on the assets confiscated from the mafia, on the Righteous remembered in the Garden that Rho wanted to dedicate to them in via Redipuglia. Finally, the educators Sara and Matteo from Rhoasi and Riccardo Martinelli from the Comin cooperative for the Tamias Projectthey proposed the video “I see, I hear, I speak” created by young people who face some personal fragilities and who take care of the Parco della Legalità, where they carried out some activities. The video is now available on Youtube and Instagram. It invites us not to remain silent not only in the face of mafia issues, but also of bullying and the lack of respect for people’s rights. The song closed the morning “Thinks” Of Fabrizio Moroperformed by the 3D class of the Manzoni school, accompanied on the guitar by the professor Giovanni Balsamo.Rosi Tallaritagrandson of Giuseppe Tallaritagreeted the boys, recalling how “May Rho be a flagship in the fight against the mafia and in the journey towards legality”: “This is a movement made of love and culture, of respect for roles. It leads to reflection, to using intelligence, not to be superficial but to think that memory must be commitment. It is not enough for us to remember the victims of the mafia, we need to choose a side and take responsibility for this choice. I say this by sharing the thoughts of other family members of forgotten victims or those who have not received justice. Thanks to all of you, because here in Rho we really do a lot. An important journey for all of us”. The municipal administration remembered the men and women of the institutions but also the innocent victims of the mafia, who were able to perform an act of love for the institutions by sacrificing their own lives. It was highlighted that it is not necessary to be heroes, but it is necessary to make daily choices to be honest men and be recognized as such for life. The invitation to collaborate involved teachers and children because only by working together will we be able to defeat the mafia. Certificates of participation were given to the children. Some of them offered their faces posing with the silhouette of the judges Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino: the slogan is “We are all Falcone and Borsellino.” On Wednesday 22 May, on the first of the two days created with the city schools to commemorate the victims of the mafia, on the anniversary of the Capaci massacre in 1992, high school students were the protagonists in “Let’s fight the mafia” volleyball tournamentwhich took place in the gym of the Majorana high school. First place went to the Itis Cannizzaro team, awarded by the commander of the Carabinieri of the Rho station, lieutenant Luigi Pinoand by the director of the Majorana high school Elisa Iacazio. The IT Mattei boys came second, the Majorana high school third, the Rebora high school fourth. The municipal administration greeted all the students involved, hoping that this tournament will open a new tradition and become a stage on the path towards legality and against any mafia that the Municipality of Rho carries out with the city schools. Special thanks to the teachers who joined the project: Spire and Bisdossi for Cannizzaro; Elena Mauri and Gianluca Vecchio for Mattei; Alfio Longo, Andrea Mantegazza, Licia Zorzet and Angelo Bonfitto for the Majorana; Vittorio Petraroli, Andrea Ferlini and Carmine Gagliardi for the Rebora.
