CinemAmbiente Festival 2024, a week of environmental cinema in Turin

From 4 to 9 June 2024, the 27th edition of the CinemAmbiente Festival returns to Turin, the most important Italian event dedicated to environmentally themed films. This year the festival is dedicated to the memory of Gaetano Capizzi, its founder and historic director, who passed away prematurely last year.

An edition full of films and events

The festival program is full of films arriving from 27 countries, which address the different facets of the environmental crisis, from extreme weather phenomena to pollution, from the protection of species to the search for new solutions. Among the events not to be missed, the screening of Amazonas, maior rio do mundo (1918), a silent masterpiece directed by Silvino Santos, and the closing with Voyage au Pôle Sud by Luc Jacquet.

Awards and meetings

The CinemAmbiente 2024 Festival awards the Stella della Mole green Award to Bruno Bozzetto and the Le Ghiande literary award to Alessandra Viola. Numerous panels and meetings with experts and activists are also planned, including Il Punto by Luca Mercalli, an ecotalk on biodiversity, a debate on the cities of the future and the presentation of the EmCoin project.

Free screenings and events

The main venue for the screenings is the Cinema Massimo – National Cinema Museum of Turin. Entrance and access to all Festival events are free. For some screenings, booking is recommended.
