10th Edition of “Play Pride”: inclusive volleyball tournament in Arezzo – Arezzo News

On Saturday 25 May, the city of Arezzo will host the 10th edition of “PLAY PRIDE – sport for rights”, an event that celebrates inclusion and the fight against prejudice and discrimination based on sexual identity and orientation, through power of sport.

The initiative is promoted by Chimera Arcobaleno Arcigay Arezzo in collaboration with the UISP Arezzo Territorial Committee and will take place at the Mecenate gym.

A Tournament for Everyone
From 10 am until the evening, the Mecenate gym will see the participation of 12 amateur teams who will compete in a mixed volleyball tournament. In this event, gender, gender identity, emotional orientation or age do not represent barriers, but rather an opportunity to promote equality and inclusion. Nearly 100 participants will take part in the tournament, with teams coming not only from the province of Arezzo, but also from Florence, Siena and Umbria.

Inclusion and Participation
“PLAY PRIDE” is not just a volleyball tournament, but a true symbol of inclusion. The event warmly welcomes trans* and non-binary people, who often find it difficult to participate in official sports competitions. This safe space allows all participants to express themselves freely and enjoy the pleasure of sport without fear of discrimination.

Support and Information
Throughout the day, the volunteers of the Chimera Arcobaleno association will be present with information material and gadgets. This support is essential to raise awareness among participants and the public on the issues of inclusion and LGBTI+ rights, helping to create a more aware and welcoming environment.

Conclusion
The 10th edition of “PLAY PRIDE – sport for rights” represents an important opportunity to celebrate sport as a tool for social inclusion and the fight against discrimination. The event not only promotes sports participation, but also equality and respect for all people, regardless of their identity or orientation. So meet on Saturday 25 May at the Mecenate gym in Arezzo for a day dedicated to sport and rights.
