There seems to be a happy ending on the horizon also for the “sheep Arthur” and his six companions under eviction from the sheepfold located in the hamlet of Palucco.
A long and complex affair that landed in court and which saw the woman succumb who, together with the son of the formal owner of the flock, regularly takes care of the well-being of Arthur and friends.
For many months we were looking for an alternative place to transfer the flock to leave the small plot in front of the Villa Fernanda pizzeria free.
But due to a genetic fragility of Arthur and another sheep, it was not possible for the small flock to coexist with other sheep. The need to find a place near Asti, not too isolated, healthy, dry, shaded and easily defendable from wolf attacks and human thefts, made the search very difficult.
Meanwhile, the justice system continued and in mid-May the bailiff returned to Arthur’s fold to verify that the eviction had not yet taken place. The owner of the land obtained the keys to the enclosure to regain possession of his property which however remains occupied by the animals.
But in recent days some good news has arrived. After much searching, a family who lives in the hills around Asti, in Variglie, offered to host Artù and his companions.
He has signed a formal declaration of commitment and is now just waiting for the weather to provide a few clement days to be able to move the sheepfold, stable and anti-wolf fence.
Meanwhile, the bailiff returned yesterday and, in light of the official commitment, still gave the co-owner of the flock until the end of June to make the move.
