Flavio Castiglioni is the new president of the WFP: all the news

From rabbit fighting to the installation of new photovoltaic panels: what changes and what doesn’t at Parco Alto Milanese with the new management

Legnano – After three years of honorable service Davide Turri he leaves, as scheduled, the presidency of the Alto Milanese Park Consortium to be replaced by Flavio Castiglioniformer councilor of the park from 1999 to 2005 and representative of Castellanza, a city that is part of the consortium together with Busto Arsizio and Legnano.

The delegated councilor for the municipality of Busto Arsizio was present at the handover Roberto Ghidottifor Legano the councilor Lorena Fedelifor Castellanza The Regent Mayor Cristina Borroni.

President Flavio Castiglioni

However, Turri does not disappear completely from the scene, but remains within the Consortium’s Board of Directors: a choice that underlines the continuity of this administration with the previous one.

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude for the trust that has been placed in me by the consortium assembly, and above all, I would like to remember the person who gave me the opportunity to hold this important role: the mayor Mirella Cerini – The new president Flavio Castiglioni began by remembering the mayor who recently passed away – I can only thank the Arch. Davide Turri, and Matteo Mascheroni, thanks again to Davide who decided to remain on the board of directors, so as to continue together the projects we have on the agenda and set the projects to be carried out in the coming years.

What changes at Parco Alto Milanese

So straight to work: the first item on the agenda is definitely the containment of the rabbit population that at the WFP, agricultural parkthey are not only damaging plants and bushes but also some crops: “We need to find a solution – Castiglioni specifications – We have already opened discussions and held meetings with farmers and trade associations, but now we must urge the two provinces The territory of the Alto Milanese Park is located between Metropolitan City of Milan and the province of Varese – who are the ones responsible for carrying out actions to reduce the rabbit population“.

Another item on the agenda, and of more immediate implementation, is the relaunch of Pojeco life path which, twenty years after its installation, is starting to feel the weight of time. We will intervene on this to make the park “More accessible and inclusive for all” Castiglioni specifies.

But it won’t just be the fitness trail that will be modernized. In fact, Cascinetta will see the installation of new solar panelsFor “Make the park center increasingly self-sufficient in energy” although there is still no certainty about the timing. For now it is very likely that they will be budgeted for next year. “The park center already has a geothermal heating systembut we would like to be able to feed it completely with the electricity production from photovoltaic panelsso as to make the park headquarters more sustainable and zero impact.

WFP and other parks

So these are the news on which Castiglioni intends to preside but, as already specified, this administration is not in clear discontinuity with the previous one and intends, on the contrary, to continue some of its battles. Among the longest but also most promising ones there is certainly that one on the expansion of the Alto Milanese Park in the Legnano area.

I will have the attention of resume this proposal put in the PGT of the municipality of Legnano and to stimulate this expansion also by ensuring that other municipalities think about this hypothesis, and not just Legnano.

To allow an expansion of the park, especially one like this which would considerably expand the amount of territory in the municipality of Legnano, they must in fact agree all the administrations of the various municipalities participating in the Consortium, namely Busto Arsizio, Castellanza and obviously the City of Carroccio. A union of intentions that, for now, has not yet been achieved.

Looking instead outside the borders of the three cities, Castiglioni looks favorably on the creation of a the only metropolitan park in the upper Milan areato be created through the union of Roccolo Park hey Mills. “Making a larger structure that includes more parks to make it a single park is an added value for the entire territory” He commented, then underlining how, also for geographical reasons, the Alto Milanese Park would remain outside of this union.

All in all not bad, given that thelarge and well-established organizational structure of the parkcombined with the support of the three municipalities of the consortium, allow the WFP to be administered in a particularly effective manner.

Administration which, as of Monday 20 May, is officially in the hands of Flavio Castiglioni. We can only wish him good luck in his work.
