Work stress hits Sassari.

The workers of the province of Sassari are among those most affected by work stress. This was revealed by a study by the Unobravo online psychology service, where the Sassari area is in second place on the island after the province of Cagliari. Here the workers live a real psychological distress at workwhich in Sardinia increased by 133.9%.

According to the Unobravo report in Sassari 31.4% of workers are affected by burnout syndrome and complain of profound discomforts linked to working conditions, including the intensity. First is Cagliari where there are as many as 46.7% of stressed workers. The lowest percentages are found only in Nuoro (12.5%) and Oristano (9.4%).

What is work stress?

Work stress is a real problem pathology recognized by INAIL. The National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work defines “work-related stress” as a condition of suffering linked to work and occurs when the demands of the environment exceed the worker’s ability to cope with them. This can cause real psychiatric pathologies, such as depression, in the long term.

Often the cause is linked to mobbingwhich is governed by a European law, but in Italy there is still a legislative vacuum, despite being compensated.

They are mostly women and young people those most affected by burnout syndrome. It is not surprising since these two categories of workers often have precarious and seasonal work contracts and the economic or working conditions are worse. Furthermore, women often perform dual care and domestic work. This aggravates the fatigue even more and, therefore, burnout. For socio-cultural reasons, more women also seek psychological help more, representing the highest percentage of Unobravo patients (67.3%) of the total, compared to 33.7% of men.

Young Sardinians are also those who have turned to a psychologist the most to complain about problems in their professional career. 57.4% are between 25 and 34 years old, while 27.3% are between 35 and 44 years old. The percentages drop in the other age groups, i.e. 9% for those aged between 35-60, 18-24 and over 60.
