In Carrara everything is ready for a new edition of Carrara Studi Aperti, the event that for more than ten years has allowed visitors from all over Italy to learn about the enchanting history of the city, closely linked to that of the world of art and craftsmanship. Carrara, a municipality of 60 thousand inhabitants at the foot of the Apuan Alps, is in fact part of the circuit of Creative Cities recognized by UNESCO, a group of 350 cities around the world that have identified creativity as a strategic element for sustainable urban development.

The Municipality of Carrara in fact contains within itself a great wealth: 30% of the population is made up of artists and workers in the artisan sector, which effectively makes it a unique space, where the scent of creativity can be felt at every corner.

To celebrate the union between the city and art, on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 June local artists, craftsmen and craftsmen will open their workshops to allow entry, through the “doors” of Carrara Studi Aperti, into their activities daily, where color and matter blend to give life to art productions: final works of their effort, their ingenuity and their imagination. All coordinated and organized by the non-profit association APS “Oltre”.

The inauguration of the event will be held on Friday 7 June 2024 in Piazza Duomo in Carrara starting from 6.30 pm and includes greetings from the organizers, the institutions, a talk and a musical concert.

The two days of Carrara Studi Aperti aims to bring to light the beauty of the ancient streets of the city, creating artistic itineraries with installations, performances, paintings, educational courses and workshops that allow the people involved, the public and tourists to more consciously embrace the history and origins of the territory.

As in previous editions, the focus of the event will be represented by the guided tours, which can be accessed, starting from May 20th, by booking. Subject to availability of places, it will also be possible to register for visits directly on the days of the event, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th, from 10:00 to 14:00. New this year will be trekking and e-bike walks to visit the studios in the mountains.

However, you will be able to freely visit all the studios and ateliers during the opening hours to the public and it is possible to obtain a map of the laboratories by downloading it from the website www.carrarastudiaperti.it or at the Exhibition Info Point set up in via Santa Maria 13F (old Fruzzetti sign ), open from the beginning of the event until the end of September, on the occasion of the closing of White Carrara (an event with which the association has entered into a collaboration).

From 8.00 pm each day there will be collateral events in laboratories, shops and squares such as book presentations, concerts and artistic performances, the details of which will be available in the days preceding the event. It will be possible to follow the event live via web radio on Radio Radio, live from the website www.apsoltre.it.

Reservations for visits must be made by email to [email protected] or by telephone, on 379 2905601. from 10:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00, from Monday to Friday.

The “Oltre” Social Promotion Association was formally born in 2018 although the members of the board have been collaborating together for almost 10 years organizing events, exhibitions, conferences, concerts, debates, presentations both in the Municipality of Carrara and throughout Italy.

Carrara Studi Aperti is a project born in 2013 and presented every year in the territory of the city of Carrara. An event that in 10 years has brought together more than 200 artists with more than 80 studios and ateliers that are open to tourists and visitors, one of the fundamental stages of the creative path of the City presented in Paris (awarded UNESCO plaque) and in Turin (example of rebirth of historic centres). In this event – as in all other initiatives – municipalities, galleries, foundations, institutions, designers, curators, tourist guides and tour operators are involved.
