renewal on stand-by, transfer is not excluded

The future of Milanin goal, is no longer so stable: Mike Maignan, Corriere dello Sport reveals, could be subject to pressure from the Premier League before long. The contract expiring in two years only increases the possibility that Milan will consider a sale. There is a stand-by phase between the Rossoneri club and Maignan regarding the contract renewal.

The Frenchman would like an increase in salary, similar to what happened with Leão just a year ago. But the parties are still distant at the moment. The Portuguese remained subject to back and forth with Milan for almost a season, before signing the renewal. Every reasoning is active regarding the goalkeeper. And in June there will be a European Championship which could further increase the interest of foreign clubs in Maignan.

There is also the discontinuity factor to consider: the Milan goalkeeper has already had to sit out for over forty games since he wore this shirt: practically an entire season. Milan have been in Sportiello’s hands for the last month, after Maignan protected their qualification for the next Champions League in the pre-Easter trip to Florence. In all of this, Milan have already identified Diogo Costa for a hypothetical future in goal: the Porto guardian, however, has a cost of around 45 million.
