“After dozens of questions addressed to the municipal administration – he explains – and which received no response, I reported everything to the competent bodies of the Sicilian Region.
Now, with a note dated May 13th, the Department of Local Autonomy asks the mayor of Modica, the general secretary and the president of the City Council within 15 days for a written report – continues the Dem exponent – in which the reasons that did not allow feedback on the inspection activities carried out by the undersigned.
Perhaps with this authoritative impulse from the parts of Palazzo S. Domenico it will be understood that the mandate received from the citizens is not an end in itself and imposes the obligation to be transparent in one’s actions and to give the appropriate explanations and clarifications to the citizens and their representatives.
I therefore await to know what reasons prevented the mayor – concludes Spadaro – and his councilors from giving answers to my questions which brought to their attention problems felt by citizens.
Just one doubt: will they produce the requested report or, continuing to consider themselves above the clear norms of democratic debate, will they turn a deaf ear this time too?”.
