Anas. Sensors on 36 bridges in Umbria for real-time monitoring

default

Anas has started the second phase of interventions for the installation of sensors for real-time monitoring of bridges and viaducts on the road network managed in Umbria.

These are technological systems that allow data relating to the state of efficiency of the building to be continuously recorded and made available to engineers who – by integrating them with the periodic checks carried out on site – can thus define in advance the necessary scheduled maintenance interventions, raising safety levels and optimizing intervention times.

The sensors have already been installed on 33 bridges and viaducts in Umbria to which another 36 will be added with this second tranche. The works are entrusted to the Site Spa company.

All bridges and viaducts in the Anas network, in addition to the normal daily surveillance guaranteed by road personnel, are subject to standardized control procedures which include quarterly inspections by operating personnel and half-yearly or annual technical inspections carried out by teams of specially specialized technicians. formats.

The maintenance program is defined on the basis of this continuous process of checks and verifications, in order to ensure continuity of the service level.

The sensors integrate the periodic inspections carried out by Anas technicians and allow the measurement of even minimal variations over time and in the event of seismic events, which cannot be detected visually. Through the application of Artificial Intelligence algorithms, in the future it will also be possible to develop predictive maintenance processes.
