Venezia solid, cynical and concrete, who brought home a very heavy victory at Barbera in the first act of the double semi-final of the Serie B playoffs against Mignani’s Palermo. Very tactical and balanced match at Renzo Barbera, with good intensity and notable application in the non-possession phase on both fronts. Not very high pace, great density, some gusts on one side and the other always with reason and caution so as not to lose cohesion and distances between the departments. Palermo held their own very well against Vanoli’s team, risking very little and having the mistake of not being able to capitalize on those three favorable chances built to find the advantage. A goal from Brunori and his teammates would certainly have changed the psychological inertia of the match, directing it onto a path that was certainly favorable for the home team. Venezia, however, found the goal, perhaps in the best moment of Mignani’s team, pushing forward at the start of the second half. Pierini’s jab cut off the legs of the Sicilians, who were no longer able to rebalance the fate of the match. Now Venezia are clearly the underdogs to progress to the next round: only a victory at Penzo with at least a two-goal difference would allow Palermo to sensationally overturn the outcome of this double semi-final. “We played a great game, playing the right way and having a great second half. It’s only the first of two matches, now we’ll probably play in front of a full stadium and hopefully we can reach the final.”
