The Co-housing conference is scheduled for Wednesday 22 May at the Teatro dei Filodrammatici

The Co-housing conference: good practices and quality of life, a training event to discuss the state of the art of living supported by Piacenza.

Many partners of the initiative, in addition to the Local Health Authority of Piacenza: Municipality of Piacenza, Asp Città di Piacenza, Teatro Gioco Vita, Fondazione Pia Pozzoli, Assofa, Eureka, AFaDi, Aias, Auroradomus, Le Nuvole, La Ricerca. The patronage is of SIDiN (Italian Society for Neurodevelopmental Disorders).

“We are in our third year – highlights Corrado Cappa, director of Psychiatry and Social Inclusion, as well as course manager – and we have made a substantial qualitative leap. We are measuring the outcomes of all the interventions that at a local level fall within supported living, a dimension outside of normal community housing in which people acquire skills and independence. The qualitative leap arises from a continuous comparison between all the areas involved. We therefore discuss not only a single category (the drug addict, the autistic person), but rather trying to understand what the aspects may be that are common to all, both from a methodological point of view (the morning’s interventions will focus above all on on this aspect), and of the final objectives, i.e. living that can be long-term or short-medium term. If in the first two years we did a great job of raising awareness, this year we are going into the specifics of all the very diversified experiences of real living. The afternoon will be dedicated to the story of these experiences, through the mouths of those who lived them and those who organized and planned them. The conference therefore intends to photograph the existing with the desire to relate, net of methodological differences, all the various experiences in play, seeing what works and what works less. Living is not just finding a home and knowing how to cook, but having the ability, for example, to form healthy relationships with neighbors.”

In the province of Piacenza, at the moment, there are around thirty users with serious mental disorders and between 20 and 25 users of people with autism who experience supported living.

“With the General Management – observes Cappa – a co-planning project is under construction with the various third sector bodies to find new housing solutions”.
