A new meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, May 21, 2024 at 3.30 pm in the Basilicata Region between Bcube spa, SGL srl and the social partnerswhere an increasingly tense climate is expected due to the employment uncertainties that have arisen around this complicated dispute, where it should be remembered that It’s been two months now that SGL workers haven’t set foot in what were once their businesses.
Despite reaching an agreement, obtained in the Basilicata Region after a long and intense discussion with all the parties involved, which lasted approximately 4 hours, where the payment of the balance due for the month of March was recognized for the entire workforce who provided their work, however, the workers are not there and will come in even greater numbers to the Regional headquarters to demand what we have always claimed, the right to workso we will once again underline our position, which will be to define once and for all a solution that still gives opportunities to the 156 workers of SGL.
We are convinced that with everyone’s commitment, also in light of the provisions of the program agreement signed in the Melfi council chamber, some agreement can be reached, where even the The Basilicata Region will have to responsibly act as guarantor for employment maintenance, which not only puts the SGL workers at risk, but puts at risk with them, an important and substantial slice of the entire Region’s GDP.
We have defended and will continue to defend not only these workers, but the entire industrial area of Melfi, because we believe that industrial depopulation could bring not only Melfi but the entire Basilicata region to its knees”.
