The music course of the ‘De Filis’ middle school in Terni won two first prizes at the ‘Zangarelli’, an important national music competition held in Città di Castello (Perugia). The ‘De Filis’ school participated with the orchestra of the ‘Musical Path’ with the 2nd B and 3rd B classes directed by Professor Raffaella Palumbo, winning a first prize with a score of 95/100. The school also participated in the ‘Piano Soloists’ category, achieving another good result with Gabriele Nicolardi (3rd B) who won a first prize with a score of 99/100. The competition, now in its 25th edition, is designed in collaboration with the MIUR and is organized by the ‘Alighieri-Pascoli’ lower secondary school and the Municipality of Città di Castello. The award is structured into various categories ranging from soloist to chamber groups, choirs and orchestras. Middle schools with a musical path and musical high schools can participate, but also schools that have musical projects included in their PTOF. Given the importance of the prize, every year participants come from all over Italy. The preparatory teachers of the group that established itself at Enrico Zangarelli are professors Palumbo, Todini, Karabuva, Caldarelli and Conti. The director of ‘De Filis’, Professor Maria Paola Morelli, expressed strong appreciation for the children’s work.
