“Knowing with certainty what the timescales are for starting work at the Da Procida hospital”. This is the appeal made by the general secretary of the FP Cgil, Antonio Capezzuto, and by the company RSU in a letter sent to the leaders of the “Ruggi”. One of the latest internal circulars, in fact, provides for the transfer of activities, from Da Procida to Ruggi, starting from 24 May. “In the absence of the start of the works, we are asked to keep the activities at the Da Procida operational so as to guarantee continuity of care for patients in need of rehabilitation care, starting from those who would be unable to use the hydrokinesitherapy pool”, reads in the note released by FP CGIL.
“It would be very serious if, in the absence of an imminent start of the works, a transfer were made to Ruggi della Rehabilitation, in logistically reduced environments as already denounced several times by this trade union organisation, both due to the reduction in beds and the closure of the swimming pool for water therapies. All this would cause damage to patients in the Salerno area, a further increase in rehabilitation towards the private sector and the private sector, with exclusive access to those who can afford paid treatment”.
For some time, in fact, the union has raised doubts about the reorganization implemented by “Ruggi” during the work phase at “Da Procida”. “Please remember that the company proposal envisaged a clear cut in beds, reducing them to only 10 with 4/5 in day hospitals. A small, inadequate department was reserved for Code 56 rehabilitation, with an insufficient gym for the activities to be carried out in a subacute phase rehabilitation. A department that unfortunately does not guarantee adequate spaces for either patients or workers. Our proposal to compensate for the lack of space was to assign, in addition, at least one other room, such as the Farfalla room (currently used as a warehouse) or part of the rooms adjacent to the transplant center day hospital intended for an association, never seen in action. A meeting with the Strategic Management is therefore urgently needed to effectively protect Public Rehabilitation. Suspend the transfer of the Rehabilitation of Da Procida to Ruggi until there is a certain start of the works”.
