The population of Campi Flegrei was woken up in the middle of the night by an earthquake swarm that hit the Pozzuoli area around four o’clock. The seismographs of the Vesuvian Observatory began to tremble at 3.56 am, when the first earthquake of magnitude 2.2 occurred. It was the one felt most by the population, awakened during their sleep by the movement of the earth.

Seismic swarm at the Campi Flegrei, six tremors in the night. Exhausted residents: “We can’t take it anymore”

The subsequent ones occurred just a few seconds apart, and had magnitudes of 1.3, 1.9, 1.0, 2.0 and 1.2: all were perceived within 4.14 except the last one, which arrived at 5.14.

The many residents who were catapulted out of bed, as usual, expressed their concern through social networks. These are some of their messages: “And tonight too we are awake… we can’t stand it anymore”, “I jumped out of bed, how scary!”, “We’ve gotten used to it by now”, “Someone tell us something, living like this is becoming impossible”.

Unfortunately, the population living in the Campi Flegrei area has had to start living with this disturbing phenomenon, but while the Civil Protection continues to express words of reassurance, the citizens are exhausted and at the same time terrified.
