Attempted duty free thefts and NCC drivers fined at Leonardo da Vinci airport. The Carabinieri at the Fiumicino airport station reported seven people, all foreign citizens, who had attempted to go past the duty free checkouts without paying for the goods, while five NCC drivers were caught while they were illegally procuring customers among the passengers in transit.

Attempted duty free thefts

The Carabinieri, in some separate operations, reported 7 passengers who, while waiting for their respective flights, tried to leave the duty free shops with various perfumery and cosmetic products without paying for them. For a total value of 2500 euros. The security staff noticed them and immediately alerted the police. Thus managing to recover the stolen goods and return it to the shops. The 7 passengers were reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Civitavecchia for the crime of attempted theft. Furthermore, at the end of an info-investigative activity, the Carabinieri of the Operational Division of the Aeroporti di Roma company reported four employees, with the role of warehouse workers, aged between 54 and 64 years, all Italian, seriously suspected of aggravated theft in competition. Specifically, the four employees, while they were in the cargo city area for work reasons, had attempted to take possession of 75 Epals (euro pallets – wooden platforms to facilitate the movement of goods), for a commercial value equal to at around 2,000 euros.

NCC drivers sanctioned

The Carabinieri also sanctioned five NCC drivers, who were caught near Arrivals Terminal 3, while they were illicitly procuring customers among passengers in transit, outside the stalls, without having the right to do so. The fines amount to a total of 10,300 euros.
