“Candidate for the post Bonaccini by the summer”

Bologna, 18 May 2024 – “The candidate for the post-Bonaccini position will be available by the summer”. The regional secretary of the Democratic Party, Luigi Tosiani, at the 2 August club to inaugurate the electoral committee for the European elections of the MEP Alessandra Moretti, dictates the times of the dem path in view of the regional elections of Emilia-Romagna which could already be at the end of October, beginning of November.

“We will do it quickly, well and together. There will be no forcing and not even a second will be wasted. It will be a widespread opportunity to talk about our ideas”, says Tosiani, specifying how the spotlight will be the valorisation of “the things done” in Stefano Bonaccini’s two mandates and “our capacity for innovation”. The PD regional secretary, then, in detailing the ‘Emilia-Romagna Factory’ to find the right candidate for Viale Aldo Moro, recalls the importance of the coalition: “We will choose the candidate in agreement and dialogue with the allies, all the various steps will not we’ll do them ourselves.” Perhaps also a response to those who, like the regional councilor of Italia Viva, Mauro Felicori, had launched a jab at the Dems, in a post on Facebook, also withdrawing the primaries: “In a coalition all parties must have equal dignity. Why are there only names from the Democratic Party in the total nominations?”. On the gazebos, which increasingly seem like a last resort, Tosiani – before running away to the Pd Passepartout club for an initiative with Elisabetta Gualmini, another Democratic candidate for the European elections – limits himself to saying that “they remain an always foreseen possibility”.

Dem deputy Andrea De Maria echoes him: “We will look for a unitary candidate, otherwise the Democratic Party has its own rules. And primaries remain the right tool.” MEP Moretti instills confidence: “I believe my region, Veneto, can be contained given the divisions in the League. But, here, in Emilia-Romagna, voters will be able to reward a region that has no equals in Pnrr investments, quality of life and services”.
