Di Cuffa will most likely return, having stepped forward to resume that path that was unexpectedly interrupted five days ago, to the amazement of the manager and the dismay of the Verdi staff and families. But there won’t be an official announcement until Monday.
Yesterday afternoon teachers, Ata, parents and students of the comprehensive, supported by Flc Cgil, Cisl and Gilda organized a protest under the school office to request Di Cuffa’s stay until the end of the school year, “in order to guarantee continuity with what has already been done in recent months and allow our institute to continue with the regular carrying out of its activities, which otherwise would be seriously compromised” as the school board wrote Verdi in a document in recent days.
Yesterday during the demonstration a delegation of teachers and parents was received by the USR Tuscany and «obtained guarantees regarding the taking charge of the request for reconfirmation of the manager Di Cuffa as regent until the end of this school year. However, the office has specified that having published the request expiring on 18 May, it must necessarily wait for this bureaucratic procedure to be completed to give any official confirmation” explain the unions. «The school office has effectively disavowed itself a few days after the incomprehensible revocation of Professor Di Cuffa’s role as regent to make room for the director Urciuoli». The unions hope that the USR Tuscany “will begin to make decisions worthy of its role with respect to the needs of the schools and school communities of Florence and Tuscany”.
For a school «Having a manager is fundamental, without him many operations cannot be carried out, such as the appointment of a substitute or educational trips: without a principal a school risks being blocked” explained a teacher at the principal. «For us parents, they have been exciting and worrying days: no one expected this situation, and we ask that Di Cuffa stay until the principal returns. Otherwise this year it would be the third manager we have changed” said a mother.
To Alberti Dante meanwhile after Urciuoli’s suspension and two days of confusion, Thursday Andrea Marchetti arrived as regent principal. The planning and organization of the school therefore restarted regularly. The exams for private students have begun, and the teachers’ council meeting has been scheduled for next week, which had been suspended on Tuesday due to the absence of a manager.
