“The true source of commercial, economic, tourist and cultural life is that of the routes integrated with the city and aimed above all at cruise passengers and tourists. With the right valorisation of the Rocca, Porta Livorno and Piazza Calamatta, it will finally be possible to convey cruise passengers from the port towards the archaeological area of Corso Marconi and the medieval-Renaissance area of the Historic Centre, so as to guarantee a continuous flow of tourists and consequently a true economic and cultural growth of Civitavecchia.

In particular, the Ancient Market of Civitavecchia must be returned to the city and its operators in its most beautiful dress because it expresses the essence of Civitavecchia, where many people work every day and are inextricably linked to the Past of our City and our Community.

This is how the City-Port system finally rediscovers the lifeblood of two thousand years before, as if Trajan’s touch had been renewed through the awareness of the cultural richness of the Civitavecchia residents, who can now enjoy the fruits thanks to work that resulted from it. In this vision, all the places, streets and squares that tell the history of Civitavecchia through stones find worthy redevelopment and valorization and together the people of Civitavecchia also find their identity, lost and destroyed by the bombings.

The economy and work are born that feed on the natural vocation of Civitavecchia, the cultural and spa tourism that no one ever since the post-war period until today has ever really wanted to develop and consider as the true alternative to the industrial monoculture represented by the energy hub with which it is necessary to discuss and communicate to obtain the best for our city.

For these reasons we will work to support and promote cooperation between the City and the Port because we believe in the vision of an international port in terms of attraction and diversification of traffic, to be integrated with the already advanced cruise industry, but moving away from the logic of mere parking and favoring activities capable of producing real benefits in terms of qualified work, such as shipbuilding and related activities. The role of the municipal administration will have to recover its dignity and presence in the coordination of port development plans, which is currently totally absent.

We immediately intend to proceed with the timely verification of all the documents relating to the Privilège concession with the aim of contributing to freeing that important port area from the iron ruins that persist there, launching a dismantling project to be entrusted to local labour.

The reception and accompaniment services at the railway station must be strengthened, as the increase in tourism, including local tourism, involves the recovery of the usability of the Historic Port, with the valorisation of all activities with a maritime vocation, restoring new life at the airport and creating specific employment with the right leading role.

This is why cooperation between the City and the Port must be systematized by creating a greater network of connections between the two areas. The exit of cruise passengers from the Port cannot be relegated to the borders of our city but must also be open to the southern entrance, so that the flow of passengers is directly immersed in the city, with the creation of a network of buses and shuttles designed to transport them throughout the city for a well-organised welcome, developing growth opportunities for the local community.

OUR OBJECTIVES

ü Arrive directly at cruise ships with tourist packages that must be proposed and updated every year at Seatrade in Miami, the largest trade fair in the world in the sector so that the Municipality works with them in the interest of the city

ü Identify the areas to be dedicated to commercial development linked to port, tourist and mercantile activities and integrate the same activities into the city’s economic fabric.

ü Redevelop the Market with necessary, periodic and useful interventions

üPromote the development of the industrial area and the Interport in synergy with port activities linked to maritime cargo traffic

ü Guarantee daily cleaning throughout the city and the Marina, Civitavecchia’s welcome ticket, transforming it into an open-air museum with periodic exhibition of works by national and international artists and a submarine to be transformed into a Museum of the Italian Navy.

ü Convene the inter-force table to stem crime and degradation, especially in the suburbs and the Industrial Area, for urban decorum, street safety and public hygiene.

ü Establish the “Call Civitavecchia” telephone number to report emergencies thanks to the participation of citizens

üImplement trains connecting Civitavecchia to Rome on a daily basis for the benefit of Civitavecchia commuters but also cruise passengers
