“Ninin” is a two-sided coin. On the one hand it is a romantic love story, on the other it is a detailed and faithful historical fresco of the early 1900s, the period in which the plot unfolds. Can a story set in an era that appears light years away from us be enjoyable, engaging and exciting, no matter how much habits and customs have changed? What drives the actions of men and women, now as then, are the feelings of love and hate and the lust, desire or need for money. The novel finds its strength on these constants, proving to be astonishingly timely.
The curtain opens on the Cuneo countryside where the protagonist lives in a farmhouse, a very young peasant “with green eyes and auburn hair gathered behind her neck”. She, serene and happy in an environment that offers her just enough to survive, is presented with the opportunity to improve her living conditions, letting herself be put on her finger. An arranged marriage could mark the end of the narrative, however, it is only the beginning.

The presentation, edited by the author Carla Maria Botterowill be accompanied by the projection of some slides aimed at historically framing the story.
