Filming of ‘The tasters’ by Silvio Soldini in Alto Adige

They start on May 17, 2024 in South Tyrol filming of the film The tasters (international title The Tasters) Of Silvio Soldiniwith Elisa Schlott, Max Riemelt, Alma Hasun.

The film is based on the novel The tasters Of Rosella Postorino, published by Feltrinelli and winner of the 2018 Campiello prize, published in 46 countries with over one million copies sold worldwide. The book is inspired by the testimony of Hitler’s last taster, a previously untold story that shines a new light on what not even war is able to wrest from the hearts and bodies of women and men.

The plot is set in autumn 1943. Young Rosa, fleeing from bombed-out Berlin, reaches a small isolated town near the eastern border. This is where her in-laws live and where her husband, busy at the front, wrote to her to take refuge while waiting for the end of the war and her return. Rosa will soon discover that that seemingly quiet village hides a secret: within the forest it borders, Hitler has his headquarters, the Wolf’s Den. The Führer sees enemies everywhere, being poisoned is his obsession. One morning at dawn Rosa is taken, together with other young women from the village, to taste the food intended for him. Torn between the fear of dying and the hunger that devours them, the “tasters” will form alliances, friendships and secret pacts with each other. The “Berliner” struggles to be accepted. But when she finally overcomes her mistrust, something happens that will make her feel like a traitor. The arrival of an SS officer who, against all rationality and in spite of herself, reawakens her love in her. Or perhaps the simple need to feel alive, despite everything.
