a weekend dedicated to culture and discovery

BITONTO – Next Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May, Bitonto is preparing to welcome the tenth edition of “Bitonto Cortili Aperti”, an extraordinary event that offers the opportunity to explore for free 58 fascinating places including historic buildings, churches, cloisters and gardens. Organized by ADSI Puglia in collaboration with the Municipality of Bitonto, this event is confirmed as a prestigious event to rediscover the rich historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the city.

Two intense days of events are scheduled, during which visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a real open-air museum. Courtyards of ancient homes, palaces usually closed to the public and thousand-year-old churches will be open to allow everyone to appreciate the beauty of Bitonto.

The event, chaired by Piero Consiglio and promoted by ADSI Puglia, aims to promote the conservation and valorisation of historic homes, thus contributing to the diffusion of a new vision of Italy, whose sustainable development cannot ignore the its unique, internationally recognized heritage.

Among the places to visit are the Palazzo Sylos Sersale, the Palazzo de Ferraris Regna, the Palazzo Planelli – Sylos, the church of San Silvestro and many others. Furthermore, on Sunday 19 May, the well-known journalist and Rai presenter Paolo Di Giannantonio will hold a report on the defense of artistic heritage, accompanied by Serena K. “Cortili Aperti” has recorded great success in previous years, with thousands of visitors coming from different cities in Puglia, from Italy and also from abroad. This year, more than 700 students will join the event as “new guides”, guiding visitors through the historical and artistic beauties of Bitonto.

The event was made possible thanks to the precious support of the mayor Francesco Paolo Ricci and the municipal administration, as well as the owners of buildings, courtyards and gardens who opened their doors to the public.

Among the novelties of this edition is “The perfect shot”, an initiative born from the collaboration with the Bitonto Photographic Club. During the event, visitors are invited to take photos and share them on social media with the dedicated hashtags. The most representative images will be shared on the “stories” of the Bitonto Photographic Club and the Bitonto Cortili Aperti page.

The appointment to visit the historical beauties of Bitonto is for Saturday 18 May, from 6.00 pm to 10.00 pm, and Sunday 19 May, from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 4.30 pm to 10.00 pm. Entrance is free.
