On May 25th, the San Giusto Castle in Trieste will host the Amber Wine Festival for the third consecutive year, a prestigious international wine event promoted by ForevenTS in co-organization with the Municipality of Trieste, the first of the four exclusive events of the “Il San Giusto del Gusto”.

The 2024 edition aims to consolidate itself as the international reference event for macerated white wines, produced with natural methods.

This style of wines, which in our region and the surrounding territories boasts a concentration of the best producers in the world, is widening the audience of enthusiasts. The winemakers, using traditional production methods, have been able to create wines of great consistency, winning over enthusiasts all over the world.

Wines that stand out for their body combined with elegance and refinement which, with the complexity of aromas and flavors, reveal a strong and unique character. From the prolonged maceration of the must on the skins the wine gets its unmistakable amber color with golden reflections.

It is a method that takes up the traditions particularly widespread in the areas of Collio, Karst, the Vipava Valley and Istria, recognized for the excellence in the production of these wines of which Trieste, with the Amber Wine Festival, aspires to become the honorary capital.

An ambitious project based on a rigorous selection of winemakers who adhere to the principles of ecological and natural production. Family businesses which, in the name of sincere wine, assume the risk and sometimes the consequences of poor harvests and limited production, to guarantee the purity of their wines.

The event, aimed at those looking for direct contact with world-famous winemakers and which was presented today (Wednesday 15 May) at the Sartorio Civic Museum of Trieste during a press conference introduced by the Councilor for Culture and Tourism Policies, George Rossi and by the director of the Historical and Artistic Museums of the Municipality of Trieste, Stefano Bianchiin the presence of the President Diego Colarich and of Tomi Kresevič of ForevenTS and the president of Gal Carso, David Pizziga It will take place Saturday 25 May from 1pm to 7pm.

Building on the success of previous editions, this year the festival will also expand outside, connecting the tasting areas with the delights that will be placed in the Cortile delle Milizie to offer an even more immersive experience. The enchanting view of the gulf and the city will add a magical touch to the tasting.

Enriched by new proposals that combine the wines with other products taken from the vine, visitors will be able to broaden the tasting experience through an engaging journey created by one of the most consistent supporters of eco-sustainable production with the initiative Organic Anarchy, which for the occasion will present a sensorial journey through the vine: it will in fact be proposed Organic Anarchy Cirkusa sensorial journey between the flavors of wine and art: as a corollary there will be an artistic program with an exhibition entitled “Vitis vinifera without wine” and musical entertainment.

With rapid climate change, it has become impossible to protect grapes from disease by working biodynamically. “We are in one of the most representative places of Trieste’s cultural heritage to present an event that represents a sensorial journey” declared the councilor Giorgio Rossiwho underlined the desire on the part of the municipal administration to set up the event at the Castello di San Giusto with the aim of relaunching the spaces by trying to make it the center of events, especially food and wine events, because – he stated – the fate of our city is a tourism that offers quality events, capable of enhancing the products of our territory”.

Diego Colarich, president of the ForevenTS association, thanked the municipal administration for co-organizing the event, through which it demonstrated particular attention to a proposal linked to the territory with a strong economic value and which also represents an important tourist attraction. In fact, more than half of the visitors come from outside Trieste and set off on their own journey, taking with them a postcard of the splendid setting of the San Giusto castle.

“The advantage of this event – explained Colarich – is that there are no others of this type, that on a single day and in a single place you can taste the wines of some of the top producers in the world. Paired with the wines is the gastronomic proposal with a showcase of the culinary specialties of the area. Among the producers present we also include several realities made up of young entrepreneurs who decide to produce a type of wines which, using only natural elements, are often much more at risk of poor harvests and very small productions, but with a great value represented by purity and quality of the wine produced”.

Colarich then highlighted the presence at the festival of one of the most consistent supporters of eco-sustainable production with the initiative Organic Anarchy, which for the occasion will present a sensorial journey through the vine in a specific space where tastings will be held and the particular production philosophy will be illustrated, also with the help of images”.
