TERNI – «The Thyrus is no longer the bearer of nefarious events, but the guardian of art». This is what we read on the social pages of the Thyrus cultural association. The inauguration of the tallest statue in Italy will take place on 14 and 15 June. The one depicting the dragon of Terni, the Thyrus. Created by the association and its members. In conjunction with the ribbon cutting, in front of the authorities of the Terni area, there will be two days full of cultural events. The so-called “Dragon Days”. «The Thyrus must become a symbol not only for those who live in the Terni area, but an emblem to also take outside our Region» states Marco Diamanti.

Marco Diamanti is the sculptor and creator of the work together with Jacopo Cardinali who was responsible for the technical translation of the artistic project of the statue which is located in the Filipponi rotunda, between the Nera river and the entrance to the Chaos museum complex. Precisely in these spaces the area, never touched by such events, will be brought to life, also with the aim of valorising it: «We invited artists from all the Pro Loco – explains Diamanti – to make them take part in this initiative. There will also be two conferences attended by prominent people from the area and beyond, such as anthropologists, journalists and scholars. We hope that the “Dragon Days” can become annual and recurring events.” It will be possible to take walks among the exhibitions, watch artistic performances, but also the parade of sports associations with the dragon as their symbol, under the passage of the Thyrus Flying Team. There will be music and tastings.
