Goodbye Olga Cicognani, director of the sports library of Bologna

The entire sporting world of Emilia Romagna, and beyond, mourns the passing of Olga Cicognani, director of the sports library of Bologna for over twenty years, a place that has grown to become a sporting and cultural reference point for thousands of interested people , especially young people from universities across Italy.

Olga Cicognani was born in Brisighella on 9 November 1951, after graduating from high school in 1969 she attended ISEF. In 1996 she joined the physical education office in Bologna and the following year she became deputy principal at the Liceo Minghetti in Bologna. Meanwhile, since 1993 you have joined the Coni of Bologna as responsible for promotional games such as the Youth Games and the Student Championships. In 1998 you began your role as coordinator of the Library, the Study Center and the Documentation Sector of the Coni of Emilia Romagna. In recent years you have been regional president of Fiefs-Csef and collaborated in the organization of numerous research studies. You are the author of various publications, in particular you remember Bologna Olimpica, with the biographies and profiles of the Olympians and Paralympians of the two towers from London 1908 to the present day.

“We have always appreciated his competence and passion for sporting culture – declared Andrea Dondi, president of the Emilia Romagna Coni – a great humanity, combined with a determination to achieve the objectives that went even beyond the actual availability. In any case she tried to implement everything that could improve the situation of the library, which she held dear as a family jewel”.
