The meeting entitled “Today we talk about love”organized on the World Day against homolesbobitransphobia by Prime Minister Basilicata, the Politics school for young women in collaboration with Matera Letteratura, Alba Lucana and the RiSvolta Association, and conducted by Piero Caforio, psychologist and psychotherapist.
“With this third appointment – the organizers declare in a note – we continue to propose an intergenerational dialogue on feelings in our community, with active listening practices and open dialogue between young people, families, educators, to increasingly welcome and respect the differences, breaking down prejudices and discrimination.
The initiative was also born as a form of awareness and prevention to combat the phenomenon of homolesbobitransphobia, on the world day established 17 years ago in all countries of the world, in which homosexuality was removed from the list of mental illnesses in the international classification of diseases published by the World Health Organization. But – concludes the note – although more than thirty years have passed since that historic date, sexual orientation and gender identity are still at the top of the list of causes of discrimination in public spaces, in the workplace and even in the family. These meetings can help break down prejudices, know and learn more about the processes of empathy and human feelings with which to establish healthy relationships and be better people and citizens while respecting differences of all kinds.”
