European night of museums, 1 euro ticket to enter the Royal Palace of Caserta

Saturday 18 May is the European Night of Museums. The Royal Palace of Caserta celebrates with an extraordinary evening opening of the Royal Palace. From 7.30pm the ticket will have a symbolic cost of 1 euro. The Museum of the Ministry of Culture will be open until 10.15pm, with last admission at 9pm. The European Night of Museums is promoted by the French Ministry of Culture to promote knowledge of European cultural heritage and identity. The initiative is sponsored by UNESCO, the Council of Europe and Icom and since 2005 it has involved museums across Europe. From 7pm the Royal Staircase and the Vestibule will come alive with the choreographies of dancers who will welcome visitors with tableaux vivant, modern performances of the entertainment music used in the Bourbon era to accompany some moments of the social life of the court. The initiative is organized by Progetto Sonora with the Arabesque association. From 8pm, as part of the Mozart Spring programme, the Caserta Chamber Orchestra and Simon Zhu, violinist who came to international attention with the victory in 2023 of the Paganini Prize, conducted by Maestro Antonino Cascio, will perform in the Chapel Palatina some of Mozart’s most beautiful works: the Concerto n.5 for violin and orchestra KV 219 ‘Turkisch’, the Symphony n.36 KV 425 ‘Linz’ and the sparkling Divertimento n.1 KV 136. After the concert, starting from 9 pm, the Sonora Wind Trio (Sabrina Vito, Antonio Troncone and Alfonso Valletta) with the dancers of the Arabesque company (Francesca Ferraresi, Caterina Ferraro, Martina Golino, Giulia Miraglia, Elisea Scagliarini, Giada Tibaldi) will perform in a traveling performance in several stops along the tour of the Royal Apartments. Tickets to the Royal Palace of Caserta for the Night of the Museums at the symbolic cost of 1 euro will be on sale starting tomorrow, Thursday 16 May, on TicketOne and at the ticket office in Piazza Carlo di Borbone. Free tickets remain valid as per law. Entrance to the Museum and participation in the initiatives are included in the ReggiaCard2024 subscription. On May 18th the Royal Palace of Caserta will therefore remain open from 8.30am to 10.15pm. The Royal Park is closed.
