Altamura, new trees planted for the redevelopment of via Manzoni – AltamuraLive.it

As part of the redevelopment works of via Manzoni, in the stretch between via Carpentino and via Arona, the planting of new trees has begun to replace the pines that were removed due to the well-known problems caused by the roots. The following are being planted:

  • hackberry
  • field maples
  • lime trees
  • Judas trees (“cercis siliquastrum“).

A further step in the various activities, coordinated by the municipal administration and implemented by the competent office of the “public works” sector, to make the city more livable and beautiful, above all thanks to the greenery.

In this regard, we also recall the intervention in via Matera and in Piazza Zanardelli for the contract, currently underway, of “Restoration and conservative rehabilitation of Piazza Zanardelli – connection route of via Matera and viale Martiri – PSR 2014/2020 intervention 4.1 Gal – Terre di Murgia”. 3 cedars were planted in Piazza Zanardelli, in order to restore the prevailing historical-architectural aspect of the square, and 7 elm trees in the part facing the monumental staircase in Via Matera, to compensate for the trees removed on the same street in previous years. Furthermore, the installation of new stone paving stones is underway in the square to replace the asphalt.

Throughout the city, the public works program is very extensive, both for works already financed and for those to be contracted or for new projects, on which the municipal administration and the offices are constantly engaged.
